On October 4, 1998, a new church was birthed, namely House of Prayer Evangelistic Church, a church that strongly believes in Exalting the Savior, Evangelizing the Sinner, and Equipping the Saint. House of Prayer Evangelistic Church delivers a message of hope to those who are bound by sin, in need of healing, living in poverty, mentally disturbed, or emotionally broken in spirit. The true Spirit of the Lord is upon this church and He has graciously placed His anointing upon us whereby we preach good tidings unto the meek; He has sent us to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.

And the Lord searched for willing vessels that would obey and not only become a servant to Him but to His people. And we said, “send us Lord, we will obey.” Commissioned by God, JaWanda Jackson was appointed Senior Pastor and became founder of House of Prayer Church, Inc. Her husband, Eddie Jackson, was appointed Assistant Pastor. Pastors’ Eddie and JaWanda Jackson both received their training and were licensed and ordained as ministers of the Gospel in March,1993, by Faith Temple Full Gospel church under the leadership of the late Dr. Ruby E. Kile.  In 2000, Pastor JaWanda and Assistant Pastor Eddie received another mandate from God and in obedience to that call; they are now receiving further training through Covenant Connection International under the leadership of Overseer Valerie Holcomb and the late Bishop Nathaniel Holcomb. Both are also licensed and ordained Pastors through Covenant Connection International.

House of Prayer has never despised small beginnings. During our first four months, service was held in the den of the Pastor’s home. Before purchasing the building, we now call home, we held services at two other locations; one of which was a local motel. Nine months after holding our first service; God blessed us with our own church building. In addition to receiving a new church location, we received an addition to our name. House of Prayer Ministries became formally known as House of Prayer Evangelistic Church, also known as H.O.P.E. Church. The time had come that our name was to match what we give and what we give was to match our name. In 2018, God blessed House of Prayer Evangelistic Church to burn our church mortgage.

We are fully persuaded that Jesus came to seek and to save them that were lost. We accept the challenge to do our part in the ministry of reconciliation. We trust that through the ministering of the Gospel message that Zion will continue to travail and children will be birthed into God’s kingdom. Isaiah 56:7 says, “Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and shall make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be acceptable upon mine alter; for mine house shall be called a house of prayer for all people.”
